About Us - Meet the Board

The Residence Hall Leadership Organization (RHLO) is governed by its Board of Directors. Each officer is a valuable member of the team who oversees the organization and brings a unique perspective to the table.

Erica Kokor

Executive Director

Erica Kokor is thrilled to serve as RHLO's Executive Director this year. Erica's involvement with RHLO began on the Carman Hall Council in her freshman year, followed by a term as the RHLO Director of Engagement during the 2024-2025 academic year. In her current position, Erica helps shape the organization's vision by coordinating Leadership Retreats, supporting collaboration between the Executive Board and Hall Councils, and working with campus partners in programming and advocacy efforts. Erica loves the colour blue and has two cats!

 

Ryan Kim 

Director of Operations

This year, Ryan, a sophomore at Columbia College majoring in Political Science, serves as Operations Director for RHLO. He began his leadership journey as President of the John Jay Hall Council, gaining valuable leadership experience. As Operations Director, Ryan oversees financial records for the Executive Board, advises Hall Councils on financial matters, and acts as Columbia's National Communications Coordinator (NCC), coordinating participation in national NACURH events. Ryan is dedicated to making the college experience fun and engaging for all students. 

 

Ray Nobuhara

Co-Director of Advocacy & Policy 

Ray is excited to begin a second year with RHLO, working to create a warm and welcoming environment at Columbia. Previously, Ray served as co-Director of Programming, where they helped plan and execute events that engaged residential students. In their current role, they develop and implement initiatives that respond to the needs of residential students, serve on external campus policy boards, collaborate with University administrators and offices, and chair RHLO's Advocacy and Policy Committee. They are eager to connect with more students and enhance the residential community experience.  

 

James Coppersmith

Co-Director of Advocacy & Policy 

James is excited to end his 4-year RHLO career strong on the Advocacy and Policy Team. He is a current senior in Columbia College with a double major in Computer Science and Political Science. Fun fact, he was the floor 8 rep on John Jay hall council his Freshman year! 

 

Maya Avilés

Director of Programming

Maya is a senior studying Sustainable Development and is returning as RHLO's Programming Director after serving in the role for the last year. Maya coordinates events throughout the year, collaborates with the Operations Director on partnerships with other organizations, and serves as a resource to Hall councils for programming guidance. Maya is committed to creating a vibrant and supportive residential community.

 

Kadiatu Barrie

Director of Engagement

Kadiatu is a sophomore studying Political Science and Human Rights at Columbia College and is currently training as a Director of Programming for RHLO. She supports event planning under the guidance of the current directors and enjoys creating meaningful connections through mentorship and listening tables. Outside of RHLO, Kadiatu enjoys music, storytelling, and exploring the city.
